[ARCHIVED] Holiday Recycling Guidlines

The Holiday Season opens a new can of worms in terms of recycling. Can wrapping and tissue paper be recycled? Gift boxes and bags? Greeting cards? Surprisingly, all of these things can be recycled as long as they do not include foil, metallic inks or glitter--handy information to have during your gift wrap purchase decisions. Other items, such as holiday lights, ribbons and bows, are not recyclable and must be thrown away. For more information contact your waste hauler, consult the Holiday Reycling Guide produced by the Springfield Materials Recycling Facility (link provided), or call the Western Massachusetts Holiday Recycling Hotline at 888-888-0784 ext. 2293.
