[ARCHIVED] Amherst to Launch New Permitting System!

The Information Technology Department along with the Planning, Zoning, Inspections, Health, Public Works, and Fire Departments have been working intensively over the past year on a new permitting system which will go live October 1, 2008.

The new system is a significant expansion to the Town’s current MUNIS system, and will provide these departments superior access to permitting information, detailed tracking of permitting applications in the process, and much improved inter-departmental communications. The result will be improved customer service to citizens and professionals. Additionally, this new system will lay the foundation for extending our permitting application process online, allowing for citizens and professionals to begin and track permits and permit applications from their home or office.

Initially as these departments transition to the new system, there will be delays in providing information and in processing transactions related to permitting and codes. We are asking the public to please expect these delays, with the understanding of improved services in the future. From September 25, 2008 to October 1, 2008, no permits will be issued while we migrate to the new system. Applications will be accepted during this time.
