Free Amherst Residential Shredding Event Saturday

A “Community Shred Event” to be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., at PEOPLES SAVINGS BANK (parking lot), 56 AMITY STREET, AMHERST, MA. All Hampshire County residents (no businesses, please) are welcome to bring paperwork containing sensitive information such as old bills, credit card information, and cancelled checks. There is no quantity limit and all documents will be shredded on site. Although the event is free, participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to the event. Collected food will be donated to the Amherst Survival Center.

The event is designed to help residents prevent consumer fraud and identity theft and is sponsored by Amherst TRIAD/ “Seniors and Law Enforcement Together” (SALT) Council, in partnership with the Amherst Police Department, Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, Hampshire Sheriff’s Office, Pro-Shred, Inc. and Peoples Savings Bank. Consumer fraud and identity thefts are on the rise. They are donating their services for the event.
