[ARCHIVED] Town of Amherst Social Justice and Health Training

The Town Managers Office, Department of Human Rights and Human Resources, and the Town of Amherst Employees Social Justice Committee, would like to extend to you an opportunity to participate in a series of Social Justice Health Equity Trainings with Dr. Barbara J. Love. Trainings are available to Town Employees and Community Members alike.

This training series is designed to examine the relationship between issues of social justice and health, along with the impact of social issues in creating health disparities among identified segments of the population.

Participants will examine three social justice concepts identified in the documentary “Unnatural Causes” including classism, sexism and racism. Definitions of each concept and examples of their role in creating health disparities in our communities will be discussed. Strategies for reducing and eliminating the impact of classism, sexism and racism in the creation of health disparities among the identified population segments will be discussed.
