The Amherst Senior Center is sponsoring the second annual Community Safety Day as a way to promote public safety and connect individuals with their local first responders. This is especially important for older adults because they represent about a third of Amherst's 9-1-1 calls. The event brings together the Amherst Fire Dept., Police Dept., Community Responders (CRESS), Sheriff's Dept., and Northwestern District Attorney's Office.
Community Safety Day is on Saturday, June 24th from 10am-2pm at the Mill River Recreation Area (95 Montague Rd., Amherst). Featured activities include a touch-a-truck, jaws of life presentation, k9 demonstration, car seat inspections, information booths, face painting, a live DJ and La Mesa food truck.
This family friendly event is free and open to all!
