On October 4, 2022 the Department of Revenue (DOR) informed the Amherst Board of Assessors they have granted preliminary certification of our proposed fiscal year 2023 assessments.
The Board of Assessors contracted with Bishop & Associates, in developing the new assessments which are based on the calendar year 2021 sales analysis and field reviews.
The recertification process must be completed every five years to keep the Town in compliance with a state requirement that all property be at full and fair cash market value.
The total taxable value of real and personal property for fiscal year 2022 was $2,783,546,485. The preliminary total taxable value for fiscal year 2023 is $3,070,904,629 inclusive of new construction.
The new proposed values will be available for public review beginning Friday, October 7th, 2022 at 8:00 am through Thursday October 13th, 2022 at 4:30 pm on the Town website

The intent of this period is to correct any glaring errors or omissions in the proposed assessments.
