Press Release Issued – Wednesday, September 10, 2008 – 10:00 AM
Questions About this Press Release May be Answered By Keith Hoyle, Amherst Fire Chief - 413-259-3105

The Town of Amherst Fire Department will sponsor and conduct a ceremony to recognize the tragic contributions made by all public safety officers in New York City and Washington, DC on September 11, 2001. This day of almost unspeakable sorrow tragically demonstrated the commitment of fire fighters, police officers and other public servants to duty and service. This “last full measure of devotion” must remain the standard towards which we strive.

With that in mind, the Amherst Fire Department has scheduled a ceremony as follows:

September 11, 2008
10:00 AM
Amherst Downtown Fire Station
68 North Pleasant Street
Amherst, MA 01002

The public is invited to attend.
