[ARCHIVED] Town Council Public Hearing - Proposed Parking Regulation Changes adjacent to the North Town Common

In accordance with General Bylaws Sec. 3.14, and the Town Council Policy Regarding the Control and Regulation of the Public Ways, the Town Council will hold a VIRTUAL PUBLIC HEARING on Monday, May 24, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. 

To participate in the Virtual Public Hearing via Zoom, go to https://amherstma.zoom.us/j/86223175814 to indicate you wish to speak, click “Raise Hand” and the Council President will recognize you.

To participate in the Virtual Public Hearing via telephone, dial (646) 879-9923 or (301) 715-8592; enter Webinar ID: 862 2317 5814; when prompted to enter participant number, press #; to indicate you wish to speak, press *9 and the Council President will recognize you.

The Town Council will review and act on parking regulation changes proposed by the Town, specifically as follows:

Remove the Main Street parking lot with its existing 34 spaces at $1.00 per hour, with a 4-hour limit and enforced from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.  Note: The Main Street Parking Lot has 34 spaces; simple resurfacing of the existing lot will reduce this to 29 spaces.  Plan 2 will further reduce this to 22 spaces; Plan 3B removes all space.

Add seven (7) angled, back in, on street parking spaces on the south side of Main Street, west of Boltwood Ave intersection to be $ 1.00 per hour with a 2-hour limit and enforced from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Add six (6) Parallel, on street parking spaces on both sides of Boltwood Ave between Main Street and Spring Street to be $1.00 per hour with a 4-hour limit and enforced from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Add spaces if possible on the east side of South Pleasant Street between Main Street and Spring Street to be $1.00 per hour with a 2-hour limit and enforced from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
