Pedestrian Bridge Closing
West Street over Plum Brook
During an inspection of the pedestrian bridge along West Street over Plum Brook the inspection team noticed that there has been an acceleration of deterioration on the bridges eastern side. Based on the deterioration the inspection team recommended closing the bridge and making immediate repairs.
The bridge was closed on August 26th and the sidewalk has been detoured onto the shoulder of West Street. Jersey Barriers have been installed to provide a barrier between vehicles and pedestrians. The Town will be adjusting the guardrail and installing an asphalt access ramp between the roadway and sidewalk in the next few days.
The repair plan is to remove the bridge shortly and begin repairs. If all goes well the bridge will be repaired and reinstalled by the end of September.
