Last week, the Town of Amherst was selected to participate in a competitive Cybersecurity Awareness Grant program administered by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Technology Services & Security (EOTSS). This program will make end-user cybersecurity training, assessment and simulation tools available to the selected 94 municipalities and public schools.
Amherst IT Director Sean Hannon said “Cybersecurity is a growing threat to communities across the Commonwealth. The participating employees will receive interactive online training in topics ranging from email security to USB device safety. Employees will also receive simulated phishing emails as part of the program.”
Town Manager Paul Bockelman added “We are pleased to collaborate with the State to understand how we can better equip our employees with the tools needed to protect our community against cyber threats.”
The one-year program will help to strengthen the position of Amherst as a cyber aware and secure organization.
