Four Town of Amherst employees will receive an award for excellence in technology from the State at the Massachusetts Digital Government Summit in Boston on November 18th. This award honors outstanding achievement and recognizes innovative technology initiatives in the public sector in Massachusetts.
The Amherst team - comprised of Brianna Sunryd, Communications Manager; Evelyn-Rivera-Riffenburg, Director of Human Resources; Joanne Misiaszek, Human Resources Manager; and Jennifer Moyston, Human Resources Assistant – developed and implemented a new online career portal and applicant tracking system for the Town of Amherst. Launched in the Spring of 2019, the team researched, selected, tested solutions; implemented the selected technology; trained Town staff; and educated the public on its use.
“The new solution provides a much better user experience for our potential job seekers, allowing them to apply for our jobs from their mobile devices if they choose. For internal staff it provides many enhancements, such as easily tracking applicants throughout the review process, eliminating the reliance on a paper system, offering robust reporting capabilities and automating many aspects of the application and recruitment process,” Brianna Sunryd said of the new technology called Civic HR.
Town Manager Paul Bockelman added, “We are honored to be recognized for our continued commitment to providing excellent and efficient services for our team and for the community. These four members of the Town staff showed initiative, diligence, and leadership in identifying a need and implementing an innovative solution for the Town and its applicants.”
