[ARCHIVED] Town Clerk/Clerk to the Council Announces Resignation

Notice of Vacancy Clerk_News

Margaret Nartowicz, the Town of Amherst Town Clerk and Clerk to the Council announced her resignation effective June 30, 2019. She will be taking a new position as Town Administrator in the Town of Berlin.

Town Manager Paul Bockelman stated, “I was so thrilled Margaret accepted my offer to come back to Amherst after her time serving as the town administrator in two previous towns. We benefited greatly from her experience as a town clerk and town administrator as we navigated the very difficult journey of creating policies and procedures of a new government. She has done an amazing job and I am very sad to see her go. But I understand her desires, aspirations, and personal decision.”

Town Council President Lynn Griesemer added, “We have been so fortunate to have Margaret as our Clerk of the Council during our first 7 months. The Town Council has been impressed by her knowledge of legal and organizational issues as we shaped our policies and procedures of our new government. The Town Council voted unanimously to name her Clerk to the Council, added responsibilities that she took on to help the Town and its new government. I thank her for her work.”

This Notice of Vacancy and its publication on the Town Bulletin Board meets the requirements of Section 6.2(b) of the Town Charter.
