Hadley Changes Emergency Medical Services: Town of Amherst Will No Longer Provide the Service
The Town of Amherst has successfully handed off all emergency medical dispatch calls and responses for all calls for assistance originating in the Hadley to the Town of Hadley emergency dispatch center. From here on out, emergency medical calls in the Town of Hadley will be answered by the Action Ambulance Company and the Hadley Fire Department.
The successful switchover occurred right on schedule at 9:05 a.m. this morning.
As of that time, the Town of Amherst is no longer responding to calls for service in the Town of Hadley for emergency medical responses. Those calls will now receive a response from the Town of Hadley Fire Department and Action Ambulance Company.
The Town of Hadley has made this transition to ensure the long-term provision of emergency medical services for all Hadley residents, businesses, and visitors.
The Town of Amherst has served the Town of Hadley for emergency medical responses for 71 years. “We have been proud to serve the people of Hadley for over seven decades,” said Town Manager Paul Bockelman. “We have done so with the highest level of professionalism bringing a virtual emergency room to the doorstep of every Hadley resident in the matter of minutes. We wish the Town of Hadley the best with their new service.”
The two towns will continue cooperating by utilizing standard mutual aid agreements.
