Nomination papers to fill a vacancy in the Board of Selectman for a term due to expire at the 2009 Annual Town Election are currently available at the Town Clerk’s office.
Nomination papers must be signed by at least fifty registered voters in Amherst. Candidates are advised to collect more than fifty signatures to ensure the requisite number of certified signatures.
Registered voters of Amherst are eligible to run for Board of Selectmen. Any candidate who authorizes another person to secure nomination papers on his/her behalf, must do so in writing. All nomination papers must be filed at the Town Clerk’s office by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2008.
Amherst residents must be registered voters by Wednesday, October 15, 2008 to be eligible to vote at the November 4, 2008 Special Town Election.
