According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), "the flu and the common cold are both respiratory illness, but they are caused by different viruses." Both of these illnesses have similar flu-like symptoms making it difficult to know if you have the cold or the flu based on symptoms alone.
The Town of Amherst Health Department is actively compiling H1N1 information provided by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), Northampton Area Pediatrics and others.
