Notice of Public Hearing
Town of Amherst
The Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has designated the Town of Amherst a Mini-Entitlement Community for the purpose of receiving Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Amherst is eligible to receive a maximum of $825,000 in block grant funds for housing, community development projects, and social service activities benefiting low-and moderate-income citizens. In accordance with DHCD regulations, Amherst’s CDBG Advisory Committee will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Room, Town Hall (4 Boltwood Ave., Amherst, MA 01002) to receive comments and suggestions from local residents regarding
Draft 2018 Community Development Strategy. The strategy is a requirement as part of the Town’s CDBG application for funding, and summarizes the community’s Master Plan. The Community Development Strategy is meant to be a comprehensive, integrated approach to the municipality’s community development priorities, including non-CDBG eligible activities and priorities. The strategy helps determine:
Priority projects and activities to be undertaken by the Town; and
Priority target areas and neighborhoods where projects take place.
