Veterans Day services in Amherst will take place on the North Common in front of Town Hall beginning at 10:45 a.m. The invocation will be followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Commanders from the Amherst American Legion and VFW and raising of the flag. Veterans Director Steve Connor will offer a welcome, provide an update on services and announcements on upcoming activities. Local Army veteran Marvin Jones will talk about “going from army service to service in the community.” Rebecca Fricke, who is working on a project for the Amherst Historical Society and Museum, will speak about the community project in fabric arts honoring Amherst veterans. Refreshments are planned at the VFW following the benediction .
