[ARCHIVED] 11th Annual Human Rights Youth Heroism Awards

2014 Human Rights Hero Award Winners

The Amherst Human Rights Commission announces it is currently receiving nominations for the 11th Annual Human Rights Youth Heroism Awards. The Commission’s primary purpose is to promote a community of mutual respect and attitudes of compassion and to honor our diversity. To encourage these values the Commission identifies and celebrate youth who have shown a special gift from the heart or an ability to love and care for one another. We are looking for young people or youth groups who have demonstrated acts of kindness, unselfishness, social courage and/or community service within their families, their schools, or the community.

Nominations are welcomed from any person who has observed exceptional kindness or consideration in any young person. Youth who live in or attend school in Amherst are eligible.

Nominations may be submitted to humanrights@amherstma.gov or by mail to the Commission c/o Deborah Radway at the Amherst Town Hall, 4 Boltwood Ave, Amherst, MA 01002 until May 22, 2015. The Human Rights Commission will celebrate this year’s Heroes at its annual community picnic on June 14th at Mill River Recreation Area. We will alert nominators and the award recipients prior to the event so they can make plans to be present. We hope you will join us.

Yours truly,
Greg Bascomb, Chair
Human Rights Commission
