[ARCHIVED] Burning Season Almost Over

Open air burning.png

The Amherst Fire Department wants to remind residents that by state regulations open air burning of brush is only permitted until May 1st and the deadline will not be extended. If you plan to burn brush this season get your burning permit NOW - do not wait until the day you want to burn. To obtain your permit you need to pay the $25 season fee at the Fire Department business office at the Central Fire Station during normal business hours Monday thru Friday, and then someone will come and inspect where you intend to burn. On the day you want to burn you will just need to call the fire department to tell them that you are burning that day.
