No Tobacco

The Amherst Board of Health will hold a Public Hearing on April 9, 2015 beginning at 5:15 PM in Room 101 of the Bangs Community Center, 70 Boltwood Walk, Amherst, MA 01002, to receive public comment regarding a proposed tobacco regulation entitled "Regulation Restricting the Sale of Tobacco Products." The regulation, if adopted, amends the definition of tobacco, includes restrictions on the sale of flavored tobacco products, increases the minimum legal sales age to twenty-one, bans the sale of tobacco products within 500 feet of a school, and amends cigar pricing and packaging restrictions. The penalty section includes possible revocation of the tobacco sales permit after multiple offences.

Written public comments pertaining to the proposed regulation will be accepted until 12:00 PM on April 7, 2015 and can be sent to: Amherst Board of Health, 70 Boltwood Walk, Amherst, MA 01002. A draft of the proposed regulation is available for review at the Town of Amherst web site: www.amherstma.gov or the Amherst Health Department.
