The Town of Amherst Information Technology Department is excited to announce the much anticipated all new amherstma.gov website!
Over the past several years the Information Technology Department has concentrated on many new efforts that have led to a far more open, and digitally accessible Amherst Town Government. In 2007 the Town of Amherst received the 2007 E-Government Award from the Massachusetts division of the Common Cause. This new website is another example of the department’s underlying commitment to enhancing the delivery of information and services to citizens and professionals, through technology.
“I believe it’s critical to stay one step ahead of citizens’ and professionals’ ever-increasing expectation of a more open and digitally accessible government” says Kristopher Pacunas, Director of Information Technology.
Amherst Town Manager Laurence Shaffer says “The new Town of Amherst web site represents our deep commitment to providing the best public service. Our goal is to enhance the transparency, accountability and accessibility of local government to the people we serve. The new Town of Amherst web site is testimony to that commitment. Congratulations to Kris Pacunas and the rest of the IT team.”
The new website, www.amherstma.gov, will go live Friday at noon and will have a new look, sophisticated keyword search, automatic email notification subscriptions (of new jobs, bids and board and committee minutes and agendas and more), several RSS news feeds, a blog maintained by Town Manager Laurence Shaffer, and much more.
Additionally, the servers which house the new website are powered entirely by renewable energy.
