[ARCHIVED] 3 Police Officers Hired

Chief Scott P. Livingstone announced the appointment of three new patrol officers to the Amherst Police Department. Michael R. Boyle, Brandon C. Fullam and Daniel J. Welch were appointed after an extensive selection process which included police staff interview panels, physical and psychological testing and interviews with the Chief of Police and Town Manager.

Officer Boyle is the son of Michael Boyle and Lynn Boyle of Grafton, Massachusetts. He is a 2006 graduate of Grafton High School and attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst from 2006 – 2008. In 2010, Officer Boyle graduated from Westfield State University in Westfield, Massachusetts, earning his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He graduated from the Western Massachusetts Regional Police Academy in Springfield, Massachusetts on January 23, 2015. Officer Boyle was previously employed as a Shift Supervisor for the Department of Youth Services in Westborough, MA. He currently resides with his wife Alexandria in West Brookfield, Massachusetts.

Officer Fullam is the son of Peter Fullam and Pamela Wade of West Brookfield, Massachusetts. He is a 2007 graduate of Quaboag Regional High School, Warren, MA. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 2010 from Quinsigamond Community College, Worcester, MA and is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Worcester State University. Officer Fullam graduated from the Massachusetts State Police Academy in New Braintree, Massachusetts on February 15, 2013. He was previously employed as a patrol officer for both the Brookfield and North Brookfield Police Departments. He currently resides in West Brookfield, Massachusetts.

Officer Welch is the son of Robert and Suzanne Welch of Barnstable, Massachusetts. He is a 2006 graduate of Barnstable High School, Hyannis, MA. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 2010 from Western New England College, Springfield, MA. Officer Welch graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy in April, 2012. Officer Welch is a Municipal Police Training Committee Firearms Instructor and was previously employed as a patrol officer for the Nantucket Police Department. He currently resides in Northampton, Massachusetts.

All three officers has started their twelve week field officer training program at the police department.
