The Public Transportation and Bicycle Committee regrets to report the recent passing of two of its members: John Bamberger and Dorie Goldman.
John, who was employed at Stavros Center for Independent Living, served on the committee for … years. Bicycling was his primary means of transportation and he brought to the committee his keen understanding of the joys, inconveniences and risks of bicycling in Amherst. John’s contributions were greatly appreciated and will be missed.
Dorie served on the committee for … years. She bicycled for recreation and as a means of commuting, and even integrated bicycling into the business she owned and operated, Backyard Bakery. Dorie’s commitment to making bicycling safe, convenient and enjoyable for all residents of Amherst through advocacy, activism and encouragement was a great gift to the committee and the Town.
