The following is a list of common household products which can be brought to a HHW Collection event:
  • Adhesives (2 part) and other toxic epoxies
  • Spot removers / solvents
  • Disinfectants
  • Toilet bowl and drain cleaners
  • Moth balls
  • Metal polishes
  • Fertilizers w/herbicides or pesticides
  • Herbicides, pesticides, incesticides and root or weed killers
  • Tree-pruning sealers
  • Rodent and flea killers
  • Button, lead acid, and all rechargeable batteries (from cameras, power tools, etc.)
  • Automotive batteries
  • Automotive fluids (antifreeze, engine degreasers, motor oil, gasoline)
  • Chemistry sets, photography supplies
  • Fluorescent bulbs (tube and compact fluorescent--fees apply)
  • Furniture polish
  • Kerosene and dry gas
  • Creosote
  • Muriatic acid
  • Septic tank cleaners
  • Thermostats
  • Swimming pool chemicals
  • DDT
Items Not to Bring
  • Latex paint and water-based paint-like products (Once completely dried out these products may be safely disposed of in household trash) Paint-handling Instructions
The following may be given away for use (preferred) or thrown away in your regular household trash:
  • Fertilizer w/out pesticides
  • Glass and window cleaners
  • Oven cleaner
  • Scouring powder
  • Air fresheners/deodorizers
  • Car waxes/polishes/cleaners
  • Caulk/spackle/grout
  • Cosmetics/nail polish
  • Aerosol cans that do not contain nonhazardous material (such as hair spray)
  • Alkaline batteries (non-rechargeable household batteries sized A, AA, AAA, B, C, D)
  • Empty containers, including empty aerosol cans
Dangerous Items
Please keep the following dangerous items safely stored and call the Police, Fire or Public Works Department for special handling assistance:
  • Ammunition
  • Asbestos
  • Explosives
  • Medical/infectious waste
  • PCBs (transformers)
  • Propane tanks/gas cylinders
  • Radioactive material
