The Amherst Public Shade Tree Committee (APSTC) is reworking its tree request process.
As summers become hotter the young trees we plant need more help becoming established. We are looking for groups of Amherst neighbors who are willing to care for the young trees to make sure they are getting watered once or twice a week in the summer. If you have a group of friends and neighbors who want to take responsibility for some new trees on your street please use the Request a Tree Form.
After we receive your request, the Tree Warden or a member of the committee will schedule a site visit . We will help you find the best site for your tree and pick the right tree for that spot, and have you sign the Tree Planting and Maintenance Agreement which is required for all recipients.
Family & Friends
When necessary the committee can assist with digging and planting, but in most cases we request you to organize a planting session with your family and friends. Every effort will be made to accommodate your request. However the APSTC and Tree Warden reserve the right to make the final determination.
