Payment Options
Online Parking Tickets
The parking ticket file is available for online payments from 9:00 am to 12:00 midnight daily, and it includes both new and old parking tickets. Tickets reported to the Registry of Motor Vehicles can be paid online. Mastercard or Discover authorization result in release at the RMV on the following business day. ACH authorization result in release in 6 business days. There is no same day release with online payment.
Online Tax and Utility Bills
Current bills for real estate, personal property, motor vehicle excise, and utilities can be paid online. Past due bills are not payable online, as interest and fees change frequently.

Other Forms of Payment
Cash: Accepted for all transactions at the Central Service Counter in Town Hall. Cash must be used to immediately clear any bills marked at the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) for non-renewal.
Check: Accepted for all transactions. If a check is used to clear a bill marked at the RMV for non-renewal, the registry release will be held for 15 days to ensure the check is not returned. Checks returned unpaid are subject to a $25 fee.
Money Order: Accepted as a cash transaction.
Direct Debit: The Town has a direct debit program allowing citizens to have bills paid on the due date by pre-authorized deduction from a designated checking or savings account. Taxpayers continue to receive their bills informing them of the amounts due. On the due date, the payment is deducted from their assigned account and paid to the Town of Amherst.

Credit Cards: The Town accepts credit payments through our online payment link (above).
Payment with credit card includes a processing fee. CC payment for parking tickets reported to the Registry of Motor vehicles will result in a release from RMV hold on the
business day following the payment authorization.
ACH Authorization: The Town accepts ACH payments through our online payment link (above). Payment by ACH is free to the user. ACH payment for parking tickets reported to the Registry of Motor vehicles will result in a release from RMV hold on the
6th business day following the payment authorization.
