Residents 60 years and older, who have an annual adjusted gross income of $36,531 or less, ($54,797 or less for a couple), work off in a Town Department up to $1000 in property taxes a year at a rate of $9 an hour. A maximum of 35 people may participate. Work must be completed by the end of November of each year.

Applications are available from Maura Plante at the Amherst Senior Center or by downloading from the Town website.
Financial eligibility reviewed by Maura Plante, Assistant Director/Social Worker of the Senior Center.
Applicant notified of acceptance and an initial interview is scheduled with Maura Plante to review available jobs and to set up departmental interviews.
Applicant interviews with the town department. If hired, applicant works at mutually agreed-upon schedule. If not hired, applicant returns to Maura Plante for a new departmental referral.
