Please be advised that Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings on Sunday, September 11, 2016 in honor of the individuals who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and the Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that followed.  The United States flag and the Commonwealth flag shall be flown at
half-staff from sunrise until sunset.

Please be advised that Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has ordered that the United States Flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings effective tomorrow Friday, August 19, 2016 from sunrise until sunset.  In honor of Corporal Ronald Morh Sparks, an American Prisoner of War killed in captivity at POW Camp 1, Changsong, Democratic People's Republic of North Korea on 26 May 1951.  His remains have been identified and are returning home to be laid to rest.

Vars, United States Army, of Reading, MA who was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 29, 1950. Sgt. Vars was the recipient of many awards including the Purple Heart, the POW & Mia Medals, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and several others. The Sergeant’s remains returned to the United States on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 and he will be buried with full military honors on October 6, 2015.
